The Author Show Interview
Doris’ interview was exceptional! It was so nice to hear the voice of the author and her own perspective on the book. I think I got so much more out of the book through her interview. She unraveled so much and made it clear what her objective was for writing the book. One poignant point that she made in the interview that will always stay with me is that you can be teaching when you don’t even know it. Wow! This is powerful. It means that the children are not just listening to what we say, they are watching what we are doing. This is so important and means we have to be conscientious how we behave in front of children all the time. This is through verbal and non-verbal communication.
I thoroughly enjoyed her interview. I will take this information and apply it to my life when dealing with children. I hope that I can have a positive impact on my grandchildren and other children who I engage from time to time. Doris reminded me to pay attention and listen to the children. Show them love ❤️ which is the most important thing. This brings me to the greatest commandment in the Bible, Love - love the Lord first with all your heart and then love ❤️ your neighbor as yourself. Love is the key!
Thanks for sharing this with me. My former Bishop used to say that we often know what to do in life, but occasionally, we need to be reminded. This book has caused me to be reminded. Now that I’m given an opportunity to impact the lives of two vulnerable little boys, this information is right on time.
Thanks, again!❤️❤️❤️

Women Winning At Writing Podcast Interview
I listened to it on Spotify, and I want to thank you for sharing it with us. Excellent interview. I guess for myself; my takeaway was that I will be a better grandparent than I was a parent; upon learning what I did from your first book. As you stated in the interview, to include them in all decision-making that involves them. After I read it, I passed it along to my daughter. My prayer is that she can improve upon being a parent as well. Thank you so much, Doris Barren !

Doris, thanks again for providing such useful information to parents and guardians on how critical it is, "To Change Their Mindsets/To Save Our Children." You are getting better and better with each interview! You are very strong in your statements to the listening audience that it is time for a serious dialogue in helping our children. You further stated that your book and guidebook will provide the structure and framework they will need to enable them to achieve this goal. I believe your profound interview will stimulate the listener to want to read your books to formulate a plan to strengthen and revise their mindsets to empower themselves to change these destructive behavior patterns we see in our young people! I will continue to keep you and your endeavors in prayer. You are keeping the Lord in the forefront, and He is blessing all of your efforts and endeavors in Jesus Name! God gave you the vision and the big picture to see what we need to help our communities. I am very proud of you as well as your family and friends! Continue to fight on with the Lord right beside you! Amen!

When I began reading this book, I immediately thought it was not for me. I have no children, so why do I want to read stories about children in jail and how different parenting, teaching, and thinking could have prevented these lives from being irrevocably torn and damaged.
How wrong I was!
Ms. Barren's book is a primer for living. It's thought-provoking, eye-opening, and inspirational. It's a call back to the times before parents and teachers abdicated their duties as role models and layers of the foundation from which tomorrow's critical thinking and interactions with others will spring. It's a manual to help us find our way back to becoming influencers, both actively and inactively, who will instill the strength in our youth that will help them make better decisions from positions of self-confidence, strength, and healthy pride. Yes, there are stories. Yes, there are quotes we've all heard before, but there are also new words to live by. These maxims are torn down and expanded upon in a way that each one of us can apply in our daily lives and, more importantly, in our interactions with others. Ms. Barren shows us how to become guiding lights, healthy examples of ways to live that make others want to follow our paths. In the latter part of the book, Ms. Barren even offers a checklist and workbook approach that can be used as refreshers, as decision-making aids, and in training our minds to reset, change perspective, and focus on positive change that will enrich not only our lives, but also the lives of those we care for, those we interact with on a daily basis, and, more importantly, those silent witnesses who are watching and trying to emulate us. There is something here from which all of us can learn.

Great book for parents and anyone working with children In Change Your Mindset/Save Your Child [Saving our Children by Healing Ourselves], Doris Barren, explains the impact of how a negative or positive mindset influences our behavior. Doris is passionate about young people. You will see this as you read her book. She offers essential tools that will empower adults to become more effective in teaching and guiding our youth through modeling the behavior they want to see in them. This could be life-changing for that individual or others who may be impacted by this behavior. Doris, a woman of faith, uses compelling stories, and testimonies to show how positive role-modeling produces positive results and negative role modeling produces the opposite. She uses her personal experiences as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and educator to offer examples of the do’s and don’ts in guiding children. Her voice is an advocate for the children. She wants nothing but the best for them! Doris makes it clear that when you make positive deposits in a child’s life, you can expect positive outcomes. Of course, this is not always achieved, but you can be assured that it will happen the majority of the time. Doris concludes her story by leaving supportive resources that the reader could reference at a later time. Her book is an easy read and would be beneficial to anyone who engages with children.

Simply A must-read!!! I must admit that I really loved this book. I have to say that I bought it six times for family members. I feel this is something every young person should read and even older folks as well. I finally finished reading this masterpiece after my eye surgery. I could relate after being a single parent. It touches on many areas and points of views that became clearer to me. I would highly recommend a copy.

I received this book as a gift from a dear friend who thought I might enjoy it. Once I opened the pages I couldn't put it down. It was so insightful and inspiring. I believe it would be a great addition to add in schools. So many middle school students struggle trying to fit in and their identity. This book could help them make choices that would follow them throughout their adulthood. So many need guidance and the author gives it 100%. Anyone thinking about becoming a parent would benefit from this book. Would make a gift to anyone. I ordered a book to give to my daughter. Great book!

A Powerful, compassionate book. I loved this book. I was inspired by it. The book could be considered to consist of several parts. One part contains the words of multiple incarcerated men, looking back on those formative experiences that led to them to being trapped in the criminal justice system. Another part focuses on how our mind and our habitual thinking patterns keep us from being the best that we can be. The third part is about how we, as parents and teachers, can do better by our kids by passing on to them the best parts of ourselves, without so much of the baggage that we might have grown up with. Ultimately, the goal is to make sure our kids don't wind up, like the men at the beginning of the book, in jail. There is so much experience, love and wisdom packed into this book. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to improve the life of their children, but also themselves.

The BOOK and GUIDE are wonderful tools you need to follow in "transforming your mindset" Reviewed in the United States on April 7, 2022 Verified Purchase In the BOOK, Author Doris Barren painstakingly writes about the ills of society by examining the lost lives of several young men to the prison system and what could have happened in their lives with a different mindset. In the Accompanying GUIDE, Author Barren writes a self-empowering blueprint on steps to take "to help you transform your mindset; and subsequently, change your life and others."
WHAT I LIKE
What I like about her book and guide are they both offer solutions in ultimately saving our children by simply changing our mindsets. It is very evident the author's experience and "faith in God" guided her thoughts and actions in how to motivate ourselves as well as others to becoming more productive members of society. The author is showing us that changing our minds and our thought patterns are powerful tools we can use to make positive differences in the world and using her "self-help books" can help us accomplish these worthy lifesaving goals. I highly recommend reading these well-written, in-depth and resourceful CHANGE YOUR MINDSET/SAVE YOUR CHILD "BOOK" and "GUIDE."

Doris, Oh My Gosh! What a powerful and needed work you have done in writing this book. I wish EVERY parent and teacher could read it. I’m only up to Chapter 9, but I wanted to take a break and send you this note. When you gave me this autographed copy Saturday, I had no idea what a favor you were doing me. The knowledge that it is “out there” and will be read by some number of people, though It won’t be everyone, is an encouraging thought.
As I read, I kept thinking of those women who were there Saturday with those little babies, possibly facing a life of pain, insecurity, and who knows what else when there is an alternative life filled with love, security, and sense of purpose they could have IF ONLY these women could read these words and let them guide their mothering of these children. That led me to think these particular mothers COULD read them by having access to this book, and I hope they will.
I’m so impressed with your way of presenting the information, and I love the way you used Wayne Dyer’s quote to drive home the mindset message. He is one of my favorite writers. I think he’s the one who said, “You’ll See It When You Believe It,” a similar thought to the quote you used. You have a way of driving the message home so plainly and powerfully that anyone reading your words would have to be impacted by the force of their truth.

Brilliant! Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!
Thank you, Doris Barren, for writing a thought-provoking book on our most powerful attribute - our minds. Given the right, loving environment, I believe every child can flourish. Doris Barren does an excellent way of describing what a child's mind can achieve, if given the right environment. Our society has gotten away from the basics. This book reminds us that as adults we have a responsibility to prepare our children for the amazing gift of life. I really enjoyed the titles of her chapters and how she sprinkles positive quotes throughout to motivate the reader. The quote from chapter twelve really resonated with me. Peter Stuyvesant says is best. "Nothing is of greater importance than the right early instruction of youth." I couldn't agree more. Read this book. You will not be disappointed.
